The Hard Hours - An Alternate Ending

Squad 51 responded to a possible electrocution at a nearby power and light parking lot at the corner of Anzaria and Davidson streets.

When Johnny and Roy got out of the squad, a 62 year old construction worker met them at the scene.

"Thank god you guys are here, it's my co-worker Leo he's been injured in an electrocution,” replied Head construction worker Jerry Madison.

"It happened about five minutes ago, the out ringer had slipped and it had hit almost all of the primary lines"

"Did you call the power company?" asked Roy.

"I've already done that.” Said Mr. Madison.

"Hurry up, will ya? Leo's hurt bad!!"

"Okay, we'll take it from here"

"Thank you, sir"

A short time later, Engine 51 and a couple of Police units arrived at Squad 51's incident.

When detective Robbie Sheets arrived at that incident the man who was injured in an electrocution was none other than his best friend LeoWinthrop.

"Leo? Oh, god LEO!" Robbie screamed in horror with tears streaming down his face.

"Detective Sheets, get back your friend will be fine" Advised Hank.

"But Captain, you don't understand that's my buddy Leo lying on top of the tower truck over there!"

"He's been injured in a possible electrocution but he will be okay in no time, you'll see."

"Vince, Paula, escort Detective Sheets over there to the car please." Said Hank.

"Sure thing, Hank." said Vince.

Paula Nash took Robbie to their un-mark cruiser just to calm her partner down.

"It's okay, Robbie everything will be okay" said Paula, soothingly.

Why can't you bring him down from the cab here, sir?" asked Hank.

"Because all of the controls had been shorted out I can pop the release valves but it will just  come down through those secondary lines, that's all." said Mr. Madison.

"Well don't worry sir, we'll cut 'em' for you"

"Glad to be of service, sir"

"Boys we need our mechanical axe's over here, Stoker, you and Marco get the far pole and use the extension ladder, John, Roy, go up there on top of that cab here and approach with extreme caution, Chet, throw a roof liner through this pole here, I’ll get the axe off of that Squad!" Hank instructed.

"Right Cap!" all replied in unison.

After spending the entire 15 minutes bringing the victim down from the tower truck and of course the men cutting out all of the power lines making sure that it was not on or anything, Johnny and Roy brought the victim down to safety.

Chet went to go and check to see if the power was off and it was off indeed.

And after Johnny had contacted Rampart general on the Bio-com to inform
Dr. Brackett that the possible electrocution victim was in cardiac arrest and they had defibrillate him about 4 times but he was back in sinus rhythm and that the ETA to Rampart general was about 6 minutes from the power and light's parking lot location and he informed Roy that he will go with the victim in the ambulance and that he will meet him shortly over there.

A few minutes later, two emergency vehicles left the power and light's parking lot and headed on to Rampart Emergency to transfer the patient.

Later that evening, Dr. Kelly Brackett came out of treatment room 3 to tell Robbie that his friend Leo is recovering from electrocution and he was going to be just fine.

"Leo's going to be fine, Robbie you can see him for a while if you like?" replied Dr. Brackett.

"Thanks, Dr. Brackett" replied Robbie.

"Doc, how's Dr. Early feeling?" asked Johnny.

"He's feeling fine, he's out of surgery now his kidney is functioning and the EKG is looking good." replied Kel.

"All right, Doc!" said Johnny.

"Thanks guys, See ya!"

"See ya, Doc!"

The next day, Johnny and Roy entered room 203 to see Dr. Joe Early who was sleeping comfortably in his hospital bed.

"Hi, Doc how's it going?" asked Johnny.

"Pretty good, Johnny." said Joe.

"Here you go, Doc from Station 51" said Roy.

"Just what I need a red thermos bottle" replied Joe.

When he opened the thermos and inside it was "Captain Stanley's New England Clam Chowder!"

"Clam Chowder, my favourite!"

"Also I’ve brought you some magazines just in case you need it later."

"Thanks." Exclaimed Dr. Brackett.

A short time later, their midday conversation was over and it was time
for the medical staff & Johnny & Roy to leave the room so that Dr. Early
can get some much deserved rest.

"We gotta be going now, Joe I’ll see you later" said Kel.

"Bye Doc, see ya!" said Johnny.

"Good luck, guys!" replied Joe.

Before Johnny & Roy left the hospital to return to the station he was telling Roy that he digs Clam Chowder very much.

"You know, Roy I kinda like Clam Chowder very much" said Johnny.

"Yeah, Junior so do I" replied Roy.

The End!!
