3:30 pm Friday

"It`s my guess Starsky, that you`re gonna take her to an Italian restaurant right ? '

" Okay...I`ll give you that Hutch ! But no...I`m not taking her to one...not tonight. " The dark haired detective said

Hutch `s eyes grew big and he placed his hand over his heart " What ? " he asked sounding rather surprised. " Are my ears decieving me ? Are you sick my friend ? "

He moved over to where Starsky was standing and felt his head.

Starsky pushed Hutch`s hand out of the way and smirked.

" Come on Hutch...am I really that bad ? " he questioned.

" Given your track record...I`ld say yes....You always take your lady friends to an Italian restaurant. It`s your signature. Come to think of it...you`ve even taken me to one...if you remember..." Hutch said

Starsky looked at him and rolled his eyes..." Yeah I remember but please don`t remind me. "

" So...what`s your plan ? " Hutch asked.

" I`m cooking . Does that surprise you ? "

" You mean...no rootbeer and cold pizza ? " Hutch declared.

" Don`t you see Hutch. It`s got to be just right tonight. Alexis is real special. "

" I thought all of your lady friends are special Starsk. " Hutch said.

" Not like Alexis. She`s got it all Hutch. You know we`ve been together for almost three months and we`ve never....well ...you know "

" Come on Starsk.....that`s not like you. "

" I know Hutch...Usually you know how it goes...But with Alexis...It`s different. I get this feeling that she`s never done it, So I told her that when she was ready, then we`ld...you know"

" I`m impressed. You must be ready to burst though. " Hutch said smiling. " Did she actually come out and tell you ? "

" Nope. " Starsky said " She said some things though, that hinted to it. "

" Well , I wouldn`t worry about it. too much Starsk, Look at it this way, you get to teach her if in fact she hasn`t done it. "

" Yeah ...I know. I guess I`ll just have to wait and watch for her signals."

" That`s it buddy... " Hutch said hitting Starskys shoulder. " Just go with it and let her signals guide you.. So whadya cookin` ? " Hutch asked

" You wouldn`t believe it if I told you. "

" Try me . " Hutch said

" Okay. Stuffed mushrooms with crabmeat stuffing ,Shrimp scampi and garlic bread

served with a rich red burgundy wine. "

" So...Mother Starsky taught her son to cook...I`m beyond impressed...."

" Just don`t tell anyone Hutch. They`ll all be wantin dinner at my place..." Starsky said as he laughed

" Sounds like you`re gonna need your strength tonight..." Hutch said.

Starsky laughed . " I`ll need it all weekend ! "

Both men smiled. They had come to the end of their day and the weekend was staring them right in the face. With all of their work done, both Starsky and Hutch headed out the squadroom doors.

" See ya Monday partner ! " Hutch said as he looked over towards Starsky.

" Yup. " Starsky said as he winked to Hutch. " Don`t try and call though...." he continued. " The phone `ll be off the hook."

Being at their respective cars, each man stepped in and drove away.

9:00 am Friday morning

Somewhere across town in another office two women were just getting into work.

" So Alexis...You`re gonna see Dave tonight ? "

" Yeah. He`s so sweet. " she said " Janice...I`ve got a question for you ."

" Sure sweetie. What is it ? "

" Well, It`s kind of personal. "

" Okay. Let`s go into Dougs office. He`s always late." she said as they both smiled.

Once inside the office , Alexis placed her briefcase down on the desk and sat down.

Janice said. " You look as white as a ghost. What`s going on ? "

"Alexis looked at her friend. " We`ve been friends for a long time Janice , so I know I can trust you on this. "

" Sure you can Alexis. " Janice said " Just let me know what`s goin` on will ya ? "

" Well...It`s about my date tonight with Dave." she said " I`m kinda scared. "

" Oh ? " Janice said . " Why? "

" Well... " she said hesitantly " You`re not gonna believe this ...but, I`ve never....well...I`ve never been with a man. "

Janice looked a little surprised. " Never ? " she asked.

" Nope. I don`t have a clue about what to do. All I know is everytime I`m near him, or brush against him, I get this tingling feeling...and it runs right through my whole body. "

" I`ll have you know that is a good thing." Janice said smiling.

" Come on Janice, this is serious. I need some help here. "

" I hope you know that I certainly cannot tell you everything in just a few minutes...right ? " Janice said.

" I know that. " Alexis said rolling her eyes.

" Well , How about Dave ? Does he know this ? " Janice asked.

" I didn`t tell him directly...but I`m kinda hopin` that he picked up on it. "

" Huh. You`re askin` alot Alexis. "

" Should I have told him outright ? " Alexis asked.

" It might have been a good idea. Maybe you should tell him tonight. Where are you goin` ? " Janice asked.

" We`re eating in...over at his place. "

" Wow...That`s great. But I gotta ask you somethin`. " Janice said.

" Alright, go ahead. "

" Are you sure that this is what you want ? I mean, this is a big step in a relationship. "

" Well, I got to thinkin`, Daves never been pushy or anything like that. You know ? "

" Yeah, but Alexis...This isn`t about Dave...It`s about you....the both of you. "

" Please Janice. Don`t insult me like that. I`m not stupid...Just a little scared."

Janice looked at her friend skeptically. Alexis relented " Okay...Alot scared." she said

" I mean, how do I know what to do ?...and when to do it! "

Janice smiled. " Trust me Alexis...you`ll know. It`s instinctive."

" Dave is so sweet Janice. He`s always been a gentlemen with me. I don`t want the fact that I`m a virgin to chase him away. "

" If he likes you...It won`t. Why don`t you just go with his signals.? " Janice said.

" That`s just it Janice. I don`t know what his signals will be. " Alexis said laughing

Looking through the office window Alexis spotted Doug coming.

" I`t looks like I`m not gonna have time to learn about them either. Here comes Doug." she said sadly.

" Okay. Why don`t we have lunch at Antonio`s at noon. I`ll help you out. and we`ll enjoy some of the cities greatest food at the same time. And don`t worry, you`ll be fine with Dave. "

With that both women picked up their briefcases and left Dougs office.

When Alexis arrived at her office the first thing she did was make a few calls. She was getting ready to go to a meeting when she saw a delivery man headed her way . He was carrying a large boquet of roses.

" I`m looking for a Miss Alexis Lansing. " he said at the receptionists desk.

Laura pointed down the hall right at Alexis " That`s her right there. " she said

" Thank you. " he said.

He approached Alexis and asked her " Are you Miss. Alexis Lansing ? "

" Yes. "

" These are for you. " he said.

Alexis took the boquet of roses. " Thank you. " she said.

Turning around, she walked back into her office and placed the vase of roses on her desk. She just knew they were from David. The boquet was beautiful. There were three white roses, one for each of the three months they had been together, and they were surrounded by a dozen red roses. There was a hint of babies breath and a beautiful red and white bow. Amoungst it was a small envelope. Her name was written perfectly on it . She took it from the boquet and opened it. She began to read.

"To my Beautiful Sweet Lady.

I love you with all my heart.

Till tonight !

Alexis took a deep breath and held the card to her chest. The tingles returned. She placed the card inside the boquet and smelled the boquet. It was intoxicating.

" Till tonight my love. " she thought to herself.

At 11:00 am the telephone rang in Alexis `office.

She picked it up. " Hello. This is Miss Lansing. " she said

The deep overtones of Davids voice overtook the phone. " Hello beautiful lady. " he said.

" David ! I was hoping you would call. I got your gift this morning. I love it. "

" We`re still on for tonight...right ? " he asked.

" Of course. " she said. " I`ll see you at 6:30. "

" I can`t wait. " he said.

" Neither can I ."

"Wow Alexis! Look at that boquet. " Janice said.

" I know. Dave sent it to me this morning. "

" This guy has it bad for you honey. "

"You think so ? "

Oh yeah. Come on...Let`s go to lunch. We`ve got some talking to do."

So both women grabbed their coats and headed out to Antonio`s.

After lunch Alexis asked her boss if she could leave a little early. Since she had never done that before, he said yes. So at about 3:30 she grabbed the vase of roses and headed home.

At 6:25 there was a knock at Davids door.

David rushed over to the door and before he opened it , took a deep breath.

Alexis waited with bated anticipation until finally the door opened.

" I `m a few minutes early. Is that alright ? " she asked smiling.

" That`s just fine Alexis. Why don`t you come on in. " he said waving his arm for her to enter. As she passed him, the sweet smell of Channel # 5 touched his senses.

She looked around and said " Wow. This is really nice. You are quite meticulous, aren`t you ? "

" Well, " he said as he shut the door behind her. " I can`t have it in disarray for my beautiful lady...can I ? "

Alexis blushed. But not before he brought her around in his arms and gave her a lingering , passionate kiss.

" Here , " he said. " Let me take your coat and pocketbook. "

As he swept her coat off of her shoulders she felt those tingles return. It was amazing to her, that the slightest touch from him could send her into sexual oblivion. "

" Why don`t you have a seat. Dinner will be along injust a minute. You want something to drink ? " he asked.

" Sure . What do you have ? "

" I have a little bit of eveything...iced tea, beer, cold red wine...."

" I`ll take a glass of that wine. That sounds great Dave. "

" One glass of red wine coming up. "

Dave slapped his hands together and went to the refridgerator. As soon as he retrieved the wine, he poured two glasses and brought them into the living room.

Handing one to her he said, " Here`s to one fabulous night. "

The glasses clinked lightly and the two of them took a sip.

" You know Dave ? There`s somethin` I need to talk to you about . "

"Hold that thought babe. " he said " I`ve got to get to dinner quick or else we`ll be eatin` burnt shrimp." he said laughing.

" Oh wow, You remembered. How thoughtful. "

You didn`t think I`ld forget our first date did you ? "

" Dave , that`s so romantic."

" You wanna help ? " he asked.

" Sure. "

Just a few minutes later dinner was ready. Dave went over and pulled out the chair for her and as she sat down, she said a soft thank you.

Before Dave sat down, he dimmed the lights a bit and lit some candles that he had strategically placed around the apartment.

" Oh Dave , this is great...really great. "

" I`m glad you like it. I took it from an old movie that I saw once when I was a kid. I forgot the name , but I remember always wanting to do that. "

Soon dinner was done and Dave and Alexis had moved from the dining area to the living room.

" Dave , that dinner was wonderful. " she said as she sat down on the large inviting couch.

Dave brought the two wine glasses over with him and handed one over to Alexis.

He put his down on the coffee table and moved to join Alexis on the couch.

As he sat down close beside her, he took hold of her glass and put it too on the coffee table.

" Sweetheart, you look great tonight. " he said . He reached out and gently touched her face. He traced the lines of her face with his fingers and found her mouth. Then he leaned in and began to kiss her. gently at first but soon it became more passionate. He slowly pushed his tongue along her lips and opened her mouth. Then abruptly, everything stopped. Alexis stood up and looked at Dave. " I can`t do this Dave. We have to talk. "

" Dave...I was hoping that you might pick up on something but I don`t know if you did. " she said as she started to cry.

Just then the squadroom doors opened up.

Starsky walked in with a smile on his face.

' Someone had a good weekend I assume ? Huh ? "

Starsky just looked at him and smiled.

Across town, Janice was waiting for Alexis. The elevator opened up and Alexis exited and headed straight for her office.

" Hey girlfriend....How`d it go with Dave Friday ? "

Alexis smiled " Let`s just say the weekend with Dave went well.

Janice smiled and winked at her friend.
