Henry's POV
by
As soon as I heard there was an opening at Station 51, I jumped at the chance to be their new mascot. What a life, i'm not expected to do anything. Just eat, sleep and give a questioning look every now and then. Yeah, i've got it good.
The humans that make up my family are great, especially A-Shift. Each have special qualities and I think thats what makes this a wonderful place to live.
Chet thinks he's my favorite, but he's not. I mean he's nice and all but he's always doing stupid stuff like using my ear to clean the nozzle or getting me a doghouse I had no intention of using. We saw who ended up in the doghouse. I still get a howl, when I think about it.
Marco is a nice guy, but he never talks to me or pets me. At times I don't even think he knows I'm here. If it weren't for him pushing me out of his way, when he comes over to sit on the couch, there would be no contact between us at all. He is one good cook though, and I am very lucky when there's leftovers. YUM...
Then you have Captain Stanley, he's strange. He got on my bad side the day I came here. The one named Johnny suggested they name me Henry, which apparently is the Captains real first name. When the Cap finally gave in and said it was ok, he had to throw in one last barb, "I had better not hear anyone call him Hank". What was his problem, I never did anything to him. He was treating me like I was a cat.. But he holds this family together, and in my book that makes him special.
Let's see, Roy is a person, a dog can warm up to. Must be because he's a father. He will come over to me and pat my head. He makes me feel special. I bet he's a great dad.
Roys partner Johnny is also someone I enjoy being with. He talks to me and gives me belly rubs. Most days, he acknowledges me in some way. I've heard rumors about the mascot they had before me. What was his name, oh yeah, Boot. From what I understand Boot gave Johnny a hard time. I'm suprised he will touch me after that mutt. Boot didn't know how good he had it, living here.
Last but not least is Mike, he's my favorite. He gives me baths, feeds me, sits on the couch with me and pets me. This isn't every now and then, it's constant. He's a good companion. Not jumpy, or loud. He's my best bud. We just hang together. I'm comfortable with him. If I ever have to leave here, I wouldn't mind going home with him.
Yeah, Station 51 is my family, my home and if I have it my way, it will always
be.
