By BARBARA D. WAYCHOFF
Twas the night before Christmas,
And all through the house.
Not a creature was stirring,
Not even a mouse.
And Ma in her kerchief,
And I in my cap.
Had settled in front of the scanner,
To listen to the mishap.
The snow was falling thick,
On the town down below.
People were driving faster,
Than they really should go.
The car blew a stop sign,
And slammed into another.
The fire and EMS responded,
Watching out for each other.
The Jaws of Life roared,
And tore into the steel.
Ripping away the dash,
And pushing back the wheel.
The patient was saved,
With splints and IV.
Faster than anything,
You can see on TV.
And we whispered a prayer,
As they drove out of sight.
Protect our brothers and sisters,
Who are fire and EMS tonight.
